The Baden-Baden district of Lichtental (old spelling Lichtenthal) lies southeast of the town centre. Lichtental was incorporated in 1909.
History
Originally, the small settlement on the Oosbach was called Büren, or also Beuern. With the founding of the Kloster Lichtenthal (Lichtenthal Abbey), the area began to grow in importance. Thanks to a privilege granted to the abbey, the people of Beuern were allowed to offer their products at all the markets of the Margraviate of Baden.
In 1863, the municipality of Beuern was renamed Lichtental. In 1909, Lichtental was incorporated into the town of Baden-Baden.
