Marianne “Mäx” Wasserburger (* 1949 or 1950; † 20 July 2015) was a bookseller in Baden-Baden. As the owner of the family bookshop Mäx + Moritz and chair of the reading-aloud association Leselust in Baden e.V., she spent many years promoting reading among children and young people.
Work
She owned the family bookshop Mäx + Moritz and built it up over the years into a successful and respected shop for children’s and family books. She ran the business for around 32 years.[1] In 2010, she received the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon for her work promoting reading.[2] She later handed the bookshop over to Baden-Baden bookseller Josua Straß.[1]
At the reading-aloud association Leselust in Baden e.V., she succeeded founder Ute Kretschmer-Risché as chair. Since 2004, the association has been bringing volunteer readers into kindergartens, schools and retirement homes.[2]
After a serious illness, Marianne Wasserburger died on 20 July 2015 at the age of 65.[1]
