Alexander Wieland (born 2 April 1971 in Baden-Baden) is an independent German local politician and civil engineer. Since 1 October 2024 he has been First Mayor of Baden-Baden. As head of the building department, he leads Department 2 covering the entire construction sector and is at the same time deputy to the Lord Mayor.

Education and Career

Wieland passed his Abitur (school-leaving examination) in 1990 at the Technisches Gymnasium Rastatt. After military service in Ulm and Calw, he studied civil engineering at the University of Karlsruhe from 1991 to 1996.

He began his career in 1996 as a construction and project manager in turnkey construction at the firm Wolff & Müller. From 2002 to 2007 he was technical project controller at the development company Cité mbH; shorter positions followed at the firm Dr. Schlick Baumanagement and as technical director of Gartenstadt Karlsruhe eG.
