The Turnverein 1898 Baden-Oos e.V. is a sports club in the Baden-Baden district of Baden-Oos. Founded in 1898, the club puts its membership at around 600 across five divisions, which makes it one of the largest gymnastics clubs in the city.[1]
What the club offers
Gymnastics is the core of the programme, and the club offers it in every form and for every age. Children can join parent-and-child gymnastics, toddler gymnastics and a basic apparatus class that also leads on to competitive gymnastics. At the other end of the age range stand groups of their own such as the “Fitte Senioren” for members aged 70 and over.
Recreational sport for adults runs under the GYMWELT brand of the German Gymnastics Federation. It covers general gymnastics for men and women alike, ski conditioning, the “Fit 4 men” strength training, yoga, functional fitness training and line dance at several levels. Alongside these come the classic gymnastics-club disciplines: trampolining for teenagers and adults, a mixed volleyball group, ball sports and group hikes. Training takes place mainly in the Turnhalle Baden-Oos and the Turnhalle Cité.

Besides its regular training, the club competes in the Turngau Mittelbaden Murgtal district competitions within the Badischer Turner-Bund. In apparatus gymnastics its young members also enter the city championships of the Baden-Baden gymnastics clubs, which the clubs hold among themselves each year.[2] The Turnverein 1898 Baden-Oos has hosted gymnastics competitions itself, among them the Gaukinderturnfest, at which the clubs of the region put up their young gymnasts against one another — in 2010 with around 1,000 participants.[3]
History
The club was founded in 1898 and thus looks back on more than 125 years. Gymnastics has been its core since the beginning, with trampolining, hiking, volleyball and recreational sport added over time. To this day the Turnverein sees itself as a club for every age group in the district.
