Walentowski Galerie on Sonnenplatz in the Bäderviertel (spa quarter) of Baden-Baden is an art gallery that shows and sells contemporary art and Pop Art. It stands below the Neues Schloss (New Castle), has been open since 2010 and is one of 16 locations of Walentowski Galerien, a family business from Werl in Westphalia.[1][2]
Programme
The gallery shows a changing programme of international contemporary art across more than 70 square metres.[1] Classical modernism and regional art form further focal points. Pop Art takes up much of the space, with works by Michel Friess, Ilona Griss-Schwärzler and James Rizzi among others.[1]
Walentowski Galerien
The company trades as H. & C. Walentowski OHG and is based in Werl in Westphalia. Heinrich Walentowski founded his first firm there in 1968 to sell paintings and prints, and Werl remains the head office to this day. Since 2000 his son Christoph has shared the management with him. Walentowski Galerien run 16 locations in Germany and Austria.[2]
Within the group, the Baden-Baden gallery goes by the name “Galerie am Sonnenplatz”.[1]
