Josefinenbrücke

The Josefinenbrücke crosses the Oos in front of the Gönneranlage park. It went up between 1909 and 1912, together with the park itself. The bridge is named after Josefine Sielcken, the wife of the park’s benefactor. Her death in 1907 was what prompted the gardens to be redesigned. Two putti stand at the head of the bridge. The right-hand plinth bears the name of the bridge in gold lettering: Josefinenbrücke. The inscription on the left-hand plinth commemorates the donor: Gestaltung u. Schmuck der Anlage Stiftung des Herrn Hermann Sielcken – the design and ornamentation of the grounds were a gift of Mr Hermann Sielcken. The name of the bridge also appears on its side. Two stag statues flank the entrance to the Gönneranlage. The Josefinenbrunnen at the heart of the park carries the same name.
