Furtwängler Monument

The Furtwängler Monument on Baden-Baden’s Augustaplatz commemorates the composer Wilhelm Furtwängler. It was donated by the Comité zur kulturellen Förderung Baden-Badens and unveiled on 30 November 2009. The Jusos Baden-Baden (Young Socialists) criticised the monument on account of Furtwängler’s Nazi past.^[1]

The Monument

The monument shows the conductor’s head on a stone plinth. On it is the inscription:
